Casa Àsia is a public institution with the purpose to strengthen the knowledge adn dialogue about Asia in Spain, through the analysis and the dicussion of civic, political, social, cultural, economical and environmental issues, giving support to activities and projects for a better understanding between the Asian and Spanish societies. Casa Asia was created in 2001 with this purpose as a consortium made up of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation through the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECID), the Generalitat of Catalonia and the city councils of Barcelona and Madrid.

Why is Casa Asia Film Week good news: Because the most recent Asian cinema will hold a space in our cinemas for a week, compensating the lack of commercial distribution that characterizes great part of this cinematography.

SITGES Festival de Cinema Fantàstic de Catalunya is the first festival of fantasy cinema of the world and constitutes, at the same time, a cultural manifestation with most media impact of Catalonia. With a solid career, the Festival of SITGES constitutes a stimulating universo of encounter, exhibition, presentation and screening of the fantastic cinema of the world. It was born in 1968 as the 1st International Week of Fantastic and Horror Cinema, the Festival maintains the Casa Asia Award with the purpose to follow screening the new Asian genre cinema.

Why is Casa Asia Film Week good news: Because Barcelona needs a first level and generalistic Asian film festival. It’s a meeting point.

CineAsia was created in Barcelona in 2004 with the purpose to promote the knowledge of Asian cinema in our country, from the promotion and spreading of this industry with scarce distribution in Spain. Soon later the magazine with the same name is created, CineAsia, directed to the lovers of cinema made in this part of the world. It also has a blog of cinema that serves Asian film lovers as a point of information of the novelties and a fórum to share their hobby. With their work, CineAsia has become a link between the market of Asian cinema and the Spanish public.
