On Monday June 12, the headquarters of the Colegio de Periodistas de Catalunya will host a panel discussion discussing the relationship between journalism and new media, freedom of expression and the concept of fake news in the countries of Eastern Asia.
The panel discussion will include sinologist Manel Ollé and journalist and researcher Dani Madrid-Morales, who are the authors of the book Comunicación y poder en Asia oriental. Sergi Vicente, director of betevé and former correspondent of TV3 in Peking (China) will moderate the discussion.
The book Comunicación y poder en Asia oriental (UOC Publishing) is written by the journalist Jairo Mejía and the doctor in History Guillermo Martínez Taberner in addition to Manel Ollé and Dani Madrid-Morales, and offers an extensive analysis of the operation and structure of power of the media in East Asia.
In particular, Manel Ollé addresses transformations in the field of communication in China, Dani Madrid-Morales writes about mass communication in Japan, Jairo Mejía theorizes about the two communicative realities of the Korean peninsula, while Guillermo Martínez Taberner gives a general introduction of the media in these three East Asian countries.
