Casa Asia and CultRuta offer an indian cultural route in Barcelona to make known the history of Indian immigration in Barcelona and how this community contributes nowdays to the richness that having a diverse city involves.
With Deepti Golani, Indian origin Barcelona citizen, economics and educator of Casa Asia, we will go through the history of Indian immigration in the city visiting some of the streets that have hosted them, several businesses and the Sikh temple of Ciutat Vella that gathers an important part of the community.
It consists of an intercultural project that contributes to learning about diverse Barcelona and to break stereotypes and rumours about immigration, in this case Indian, in the city.
To go into the Sikh temple it is necessary for men and women to cover their arms and legs and take a scarf to cover their head. It is necessary to wash your hands and feet, avoid socks/tights that can make it hard.
