Additional information   Ni Hwei-ru and Len Y. Tsou, Taiwanese marriage resident in the United States were impressed with the idealism that International Brigadiers showed in the documentary The Good Fight: The Abraham Lincoln Brigade in the Spanish Civil War (1984). They wanted to know more about those 40.000 international volunteers and they began to research.

A photograph of a Chinese soldier in front of the Hospital of Benicássim was the one that would lead them to discover the unknown participation of Chinese brigadiers in defence of the Second Republic of Spain. They captured the results of their ten years of investigation in the book published in Chinese, The call of Spain: The Chinese volunteers in the Spanish Civil War (2001). A book that will be translated into Spanish and that manages to reconstruct the life of 13 Chinese brigadiers of the more than 100 that were calculated.
