Casa Asia at Expo Shanghai 2010
Casa Asia began its participation in Expo Shanghai 2010 last 12th of July with a working breakfast about Social Corporative Responsability (RSC), which tried to organise a mission of Spanish company managers that promote relations between Spain and China within this field.

9th Asia Festival
The ninth edition of the Asia Festival, organised by Casa Asia, is held between the 16th and 26th of September in Barcelona. Its broad programme is addressed to all the public, with more than 30 Asian-origin shows and activities, and can be enjoyed in the heart of the city. During these days, Barcelona will approach the Asian continent through diverse disciplines such as theatre, dance, cinema, fashion, sport or gastronomy.

The International Dunhuang Project and the Philippine Senator Edgardo Angara, winners of Casa Asia Award 2010
The jury has decided to award, on the one hand, the project Dunhuang for its enormous task in the recovery, preservation and exhibition of information and images of the manuscripts, paintings and textiles found in the Chinese city of Dunhuang and of the Silk Route. On the other hand, the jury has also awarded the Philippine Senator Angara, for his committment in the strengthening of relations between Spain and the Philippines.

The Kurosawa Year, which goes around 12 Spanish cities, and where 26 institutions and entities collaborate with the organization of commemorative activities, is made up of film series, seminars and lectures, a drawing exhibition by Kurosawa, the launch of a book about the film maker and other activities such as courses, demonstrations and theatre performances. In total, more than a hundred events devoted to this Japanese film maker.

Exhibition: "A Life in Batik. From the Sultan's Palace to the Villages of Java"

It consists of a collection of Indonesian batiks, all of which are unknown, and that recover the traditional techniques with vegetable dyes of the region of Jogjakarta. It includes more than 1400 drawings, some of which are inscribed in the millennial bas-relief of the Hindu Buddhist temples and on the walls of the mosques north of the island of Java.
Winning essay of the Marco Polo Award 2010
The jury of the literary contest Marco Polo Award of Casa Asia and the Embassy of Kazakhstan decided to grant the award to Glòria Macià Muñoz, student of 4th year of ESO of Instituto La Industrial de Sabadell for her essay called "The crossroad of two worlds". The award consists of a 6-day trip to Kazakhstan for the winner, together with her parents.

Expo Shanghai 2010 is opened
Last 1st of May Expo Shanghai 2010 opened its doors, the greatest Universal Exhibition of history with the slogan A better city, a better life. 70 million people are expected -among which, 3.5 million are foreigners- to visit the exhibition until it closes, on the last day of October.

The Confucius Institute of Barcelona starts up
Casa Asia Headquarters hosted last Thursday 15th of April the official opening of the Confucius Institute of Barcelona (ICB). The starting up of ICB, which aims at spreading the teaching of the Chinese language and culture in Catalonia, is the result of the agreement between the Main Headquarters of the Confucius Institute (Hanban) of China, the University Autonomous of Barcelona, the University of Barcelona and Casa Asia.

"La Caixa" and Casa Asia Scholarships to study an MBA in China or India (2010)
"La Caixa" and Casa Asia, with the purpose to encourage the development of relations between Spain and the Asian area and to contribute to the training of managers, have decided to jointly finance a scholarship programme for graduates and people with superior degrees to course a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in Shanghai or at the Indian School of Business (ISB), in Hyderabad.
