Friday, 5th of August
Every year people let Chinese lanterns float with prayers, thoughts and peace messages on rivers in the city to the memory of the victims of the atomic bombing. In 2000, a group of volunteers created a website for people from all over the world to write messages and to see messages written by other people. Throughout the day peace messages will be able to be sent by e-mail from a computer set at disposal of the public of Casa Asia Media Library (www.seniornet-hiroshima.gr.jp/).
Visitors will have the chance to write solidarity messages in a book that will be donated to the mayors of those cities that were affected.
